About

The Mechanisms of Behavior Change (MOBC) Satellite is one of the longest, continuously running satellite meetings at the Research Society on Alcohol’s Annual Meeting*. This satellite meeting, a collaboration between extramural researchers, universities, and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, provides a forum for individuals at all career stages to come together and discuss the complexities of alcohol use, alcohol use disorder (AUD) and particularly, the behavior change process.

Since its inception, the MOBC Satellite Meeting has focused on the mechanisms, processes, and/or statistical mediators of both treatment-related and naturalistic behavior change. The goal of this work is to contribute to behavior change theories, intervention development and refinement, and methods of provider training.   In the most recent conference grant, we emphasize translating over 20 years of MOBC Science to improve direct patient care, and as such, the three-year conference theme will be at the intersection of MOBC science and Dissemination and Implementation Science (D&I).
